Yesterday's results
The first inter-couple fixture ended honours-even: Netherlands 2-2 Japan. Pete and Emily both pick up a point.
Today’s headline so far: Spain 0-0 Cape Verde is still in play - Ella against Sophie, the second inter-couple match in two days, also heading for a draw at the time of writing. Earlier, Sweden 5-1 Tunisia gave Nichola three plump points and a +4 GD; Saudi Arabia v Uruguay and Belgium v Egypt are still to come tonight.
Saturday’s biggest result was Tega’s Germany 7-1 over Curaçao - the largest single-match win of the tournament so far. Tega now leads the table on goals for (9) and goal difference (+5), but sits sixth in the sweepstake odds at 7.9%, behind Henry. Her Austria, Panama and New Zealand haven’t kicked off yet - room to mount a surprise from depth.
That Sweden result has moved Nichola to odds-on favourite for the sweepstake at 19.9% (▲ +1.1pp), nudging Ella into second. France leads the team odds at 17.5% - her tier-1 pick is doing the work.
Henry stays bottom on a single point. England haven’t kicked a ball yet - their opener is still to come. Good luck everyone.
